Four Part Certificate Program

The first 4 part certificate series on embodiment, sexuality and healing sexual trauma was a huge success.

I am in discussion to start another series in London in 2027. Meanwhile check under “workshops” to see individual modules that are being offered in different countries in Europe.

I will no longer be teaching in the US unless it is to come in as a guest presenter.

I have been working with 2 beloved colleagues, Jaime Williams and Eric Wallace in the US who are planning to take over the series, while adding their own magic, also in 2027. Stay tuned for details on both.

Certification

Certification as a Somatic Sexuality Healing Practitioner (SSHP) provides professionals with a certificate that demonstrates they have in-depth training in the field of trauma-informed, somatically-based sexual healing.  Graduates will be listed in a free practitioners' directory on my website and in the Netherlands on the Bodymind website if you register. This directory will grow your network, plus send you referrals.

The programs have a dual purpose—one is to provide practitioners with a variety of successful exercises and strategies to help the most challenging clients. Second, is to support professionals in developing a deeper sense of ease, pleasure and comfort in their own bodies, while supplying confidence and education to discuss all things having to do with the body, with sexuality, sexual dysfunction, relationship challenges and sexual trauma.

The demand for professional guidance in the area of somatics and trauma-informed sexuality is at an all-time high and is growing. There is a startling lack of trained professionals who are adept in the gentle, somatic-experiencing principles, combined with an understanding of the complexities inherent in the topics of sexuality.

Although some of the modules can be attended by non-professionals, the Practitioner Certificate is not a standalone. It is intended only for clinicians with existing body-oriented or mental health practices. If you are already part of the SE community and have completed at least the first year of the SE training, or other somatic-based trainings, you will likely be approved for entry into the certification program. The application and further descriptions of the modules and fees are on the next page.

The Program

The program consists of four modules. They do not necessarily need to be taken in order, although the first one lays down much of the foundation, upon which the others expand. Modules 1 and 3 are open to everyone. You are welcome to only take one or more modules for professional or personal growth. Each module has a very different focus.

“Open to anyone” means you can invite clients, friends, partners and colleagues who are not professionals nor involved in SE, but who really want to work on safe embodiment, enhance their personal relationships, and increase awareness of all part of themselves. The workshops are all primarily experiential supporting participants to do satisfying personal work, but also to leave with numerous exercises directly applicable to clients coming to treatment to work on sexuality, relationships or sexual trauma. Part 2 and 4 would not be appropriate for non-professionals because they are designed specifically for practitioners working with clients.

Requirements for the Somatic Sexuality Healing Certificate

  • Graduates must attend all 4 modules.

  • If you took part 2 online or in person we can discuss how you can get credit in a way that works best for you.

  • Develop an embodiment practice.

  • Keep a shame and pleasure journal—plus encouragement to examine biases and beliefs, your relationship to sexuality and intimacy (in the most titrated, gentle, at-your-own pace way with lots of choice)

  • Meet with peers in between modules, a minimum of 6 times, to practice the exercises.

  • Attend a total of 6 group consultations with me—can be spread out or arrange private if preferred. Small additional charge for these ($40). Priority in scheduling individual consultations with me. (My normal hourly fee is $175 in the US and €120 in EU)

  • Meet with an approved SSHP practitioner or with me for a minimum of 5 times to discuss integration of the methods into your practice..

  • There will be required/suggested reading material.

  • A minimum of 6 personal sessions in areas that trigger you, so you can be more present with clients. These would not be with me, but with other qualified graduates. You can look here to connect with someone in the US, and here to connect with someone in Europe.

  • A final reflection paper.

  • Once you’ve completed all the assignments and sessions submit a case study presentation, audio or video, demonstrating proficiency in applying the FE methods with a client who is challenged being embodied or with a history of sexual trauma.
